Another US city (Chicago, Illinois) is experiencing major rioting following the announcement from Walmart Inc that it is closing its stores there. Chicago is the latest in a string of ‘Democratic cities’ that have become riot zones in America.
The people in Chicago voted in their latest mayor because of his various cards which include, race, and a ‘go soft’ on theft which has led to a wave of thieving from Walmarts around the city and the corporation saying, ‘ok that’s enough, we’re out of here’.
Now, protests are erupting by angry citizens, accusing Walmart of abandoning them and being Evil Corporate America.
Walmart announced that it has not been profitable in these Chicago areas for seventeen years and observers agree that the hypermarket chain has been more than tolerant about the loses it has incurred in the mainly Black communities.
Walmart is particularly susceptible to shoplifting because they sell a huge amount of volume at low margin prices to make a profit. The result is good prices for consumers, but when large numbers of items are stolen, any profits are quickly nullified and an annual lose for the store ensues.
The same thing has recently happened in Portland, Oregon where like Chicago, the cry from citizens has been “we deserve to be able to shop”, “we deserve to be able to work and play in our own community.”
Observers are now commenting that these people are ‘getting what they deserve’ for having abused their relationship with Walmart by supporting a system that has cut back on law-enforcement and announced that shoplifting is not a serious crime.
Many individuals stealing from these stores over and over again with little fear of prosecution have reaped their final reward, nowhere to shop.
Interestingly, the new progressive left Mayor of Chicago (Brandon Johnson), is also making plans to impose heavy taxes on big business in Chicago. As a response, other corporations are either in the process of, or considering abandoning the area.
